The Genesis Collection & Genesis Uplink Terminal Guide
The Genesis Collection & the Genesis Uplink Terminal Guide for CS2
After the most recent tease from Counter-Strike 2 over on Twitter last Thursday, we now know what all of this has been about!
A new feature was added to Counter-Strike alongside a new collection. Get ready for the Genesis Collection and the Genesis Uplink Terminal!
There’s been a rumor about so-called “volatile” cases where prices shift depending on specific attributes - and the Genesis Uplink Terminal seems to be built exactly around that idea. You still get a skin, but factors like rarity, wear (float), and whether it has StatTrak all influence the final price. That’s normal in the skin market, but the twist here is that you now purchase the skins directly from Valve.
The Genesis Collection in Counter-Strike 2
The Genesis Collection has officially arrived in Counter-Strike 2, introducing 17 stunning weapon finishes designed by talented community creators. This fresh set of skins adds even more variety and style to your arsenal, making it a must-check update for collectors and players alike.
Players can access the Genesis Collection through the Genesis Uplink Terminal, available as part of the weekly drop system. This means you’ll have ongoing opportunities to unlock skins simply by playing the game. But you do need to unlock the skin, how you unlock a Genesis skin, what this feature is all about, and much more, which we will highlight for you.
Here are all of the skins from the new CS2 Genesis collection:
AK-47 | The Oligarch, M4A4 | Full Throttle, MP7 | Smoking Kills, AWP | Ice Coaled, Glock-18 | Mirror Mosaic, Dual Berettas | Angel Eyes, M4A1-S | Liquidation, MAC-10 | Cat Fight, UMP-45 | Continuum, Nova | Ocular, MAG-7 | MAGnitude, MP9 | Broken Record, MP5-SD | Focus, SCAR-20 | Caged, AUG | Trigger Discipline, P250 | Bullfrog, P2000 | Red Wing.
But here are the most important skins from the new Collection!

Using the Genesis Uplink Terminal
You get this Terminal via your weekly drop- similar to a normal weapon case drop. But the item you get is not entirely randomised. You can say “no” to up to 5 proposed items that “Booth” (the Counter-Strike 2 Weapons/Arms dealer who introduced skins in 2013). The price seems to be very odd as well- some players have reported insane prices reaching up to 1500 USD!
We hope that this will be fixed, as crafting with pink skins gets you the red way cheaper than 1.5k USD!
Here you can see how you can use the Genesis Uplink Terminal:

You go into “negotiations” with Booth, and you have the ability to buy a skin out right, or say no and get offered another one.
If the price keeps increasing, a “new offer” is unclear.
But this seems to be exactly what the “volatile” rumours were talking about.
Here is a Player who got a StatTrak FN M4A4 | Full Throttle, with a price of 1.500 USD! But because this is no drop and acts like a case, the individual would have to purchase this M4 to obtain it.

Important Notes About the Update
While the Genesis Collection brings exciting new customisation options, there are still some unknowns that the community is discussing:
XP Meter Rewards: It’s not entirely clear what happens once you fill the XP meter, leaving room for speculation about hidden rewards or future updates.
Original Owner Badge: Current indications suggest that the “Original Owner” badge may be removed if an item is traded to another player, which could affect how collectors view the rarity and prestige of their items. BUT if the “Original Owner” badge stays, this could open the door to a whole new area of collectables, where die-hard fans want to own skins unboxed by Proplayers and Streamers.
Prices / Volatile: So far, no one can say if the prices will go up and down depending on drops, if items sell a lot on the Steam market or other factors. It will be quite interesting to follow the price development on these items, especially as Valve themselves “gave each skin a Price”. This is not the “supply and demand” we always had with cases and other collection skins.
Other changes
You can now view someone’s FULL CS2 LOADOUT when you are spectating. This only counts for the side you are currently on, and not both Factions (CT and T) at once.
