Counter-Strike 2 is officially released!

Counter-Strike 2 is out now!

On the 27th-28th of September 2023, it has finally happened!
Counter-Strike 2, or CS2 has finally been fully released to the public.

Now with a heavy heart, we have to say goodbye to CSGO.
But we are welcoming the new Counterstrike game wholeheartedly.

But what changes does it bring?
What is new in the world of Counter-Strike?
It is time that we shed some light on it for you!

And before we continue: thank you for everything CSGO.
We have to thank you and everything you have done for the eSport scene, the pros and us, the countless fans.

Without further ado, it is time to look at what CS2 has to offer for us!
Let’s roll out!

For all the CSGO fans

It seems like every player who has played CSGO before the newest update, CS2, was rewarded with a Musik kit and a pin commemorating Global Offensive.

Here is a detailed look at the two items you receive right off the bat.

The Global Offensive Badge, engraved with the dates of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive 2012-2023.

Just like the game itself, the coin has two sides. Good and bad.
Represented by the Counter-Terrorist and the Terrorists. Both are a side of the same coin.
Quite a fitting metaphor for a game that has you playing both parties for roughly the same amount of time.

Whilst the coin is just for show, the music kit delivers with some sweet, sweet nostalgia.
Be sure to check out this Music Kit | Valve, CS:GO in-game and give it a listen.

If you ever miss CSGO, just listen to the sweet soothing sounds of 2013 CSGO and be reminded how great it once was, but also how great CS2 will be.

Big changes to DROPS!

Drops now are VERY different. Instead of getting a random case/graffiti per your weekly level up you can now choose 2 out of 4 items that you would like.
And then you get them- for free!
They might still be drop weapons, but you have the chance to get something you prefer, may it be the worse of two evils, but you have a choice now.

Your “Weekly Care Package” now includes one case (which we advise you should always take), one skin and two graffitis.

To find your weekly drops just go to the “Store”-page and then to “Home”. You will be able to pick them up after a Level up.

Slight UI changes

The items now look 3D rendered. This is a neat little update that also shows you if you have stickers on your guns. Now also 3D rendered, instead of just leaving your crafts blank.
This will be quite helpful to CS Traders.

The agent skins also got a little UI tweak in the release of Counter-Strike 2.
They have also been 3D rendered.
Quite the face lift for skins and agents a like.

Achievements

All of the previous CSGO achievements were deleted and revoked, which is probably for the best as many have become unobtainable through the years,
every player who started it on this faithful day got the one and only achievement:
”A New Beginning- This is Counter-Strike, too.”

This truly does mark a new beginning for Counter-Strike!

Ranks

Now you have a CS2 rating for the “Premier” mode. This is the one that was also introduced back in the Beta.
Every map for the “Competetive” map pool now has its own rank.

You can go become a Global Elite on Vertigo, and still be a Silver Elite Master on Nuke.
Now grinding maps that you are unfamiliar or bad with is not a punishment for you.

We quite like this change, but also are missing the old “General” rank for CSGO quite a bit.

Conclusion

Thank you for reading our little informative piece on CS2.
We hope you enjoy or will enjoy it as much as its legendary predecessor.

We are very proud that we could follow CSGO for so long. It is quite an honor to wittness the dawn of a new Counter-Strike game. A sight we have not seen since almost a decade!

Don’t forget to browse and shop for your new CS2 skins over on GamerPay.

And thank you for all the continuous support to us, it really does mean the world to us!
