Introduction

Welcome to our first CS:GO in-depth look at a Weapon case!
It is time to take a trip down memory lane. Today we are taking a look at the eSports 2014 Summer Case. It was released on the 10th of July 2014. So exactly 9 whole years ago today.
As not too many people played CS:GO back then, and skins were still a new commodity, let us take a look back at this case.

Why does it look different? Why is its key different? What is in the case? What are the golds?
These and many more questions will be answered by us today.

About the case

For the “eSports” cases, so the eSports 2013 Case, the eSports 2013 Winter Case, and the eSports 2014 Summer Case you need the eSports Key.
This key can be bought like every other key, you just click on “open case” and there you can buy the key 🔑

The eSports Key itself can open any of the three cases. One key can go into multiple locks to open cases. Similar to how the CS:GO Case Key did it before. With the CS:GO Case Key you can open the Operation Bravo Case, and Weapon Case 1-3.

The eSports cases were established to help tournaments. Its description states that
“a portion of the proceeds from the key used to unlock this will help support CS:GO professional tournament prize pools.”

Valve made all skins in the eSports cases, and it was the 11th case released to CS:GO. It has the “OG Knifes” as seen down below. 🔪

But enough talking about the backstory of the case, now it is time to unlock its secrets and see what it beholds within its great green walls!

Price development

While the eSports 2014 Summer Case was fairly cheap at the beginning, like all cases at the beginning of skins in CS:GO, nowadays one of those nice green cases costs you around 6,15€ on the Steam Community Market and around 5€ on GamerPay.

This price is not too cheap, but still fairly good regarding how old it is.

Here is a little overview of the general case situation for the earlier containers. As you can see, most case prices spiked in 2023.

This is most likely the way it is because a lot of cases have been undervalued for a long time.
Not to mention the hype in for instance the Revolver Case and
the hunt for the 2 Million Karambit | Case Hardened.

The cases have been slowly going down and to a more stable price since the big spike in early 2023.

Here we have another more detailed look at the eSports 2014 Summer Case thanks to the Steam Community Market.
We can clearly see that it started really going up during 2021 and it has been on a slow rise ever since.
During the latest couple of months, this case has received some fresh wind in its price.

From 2017 to 2018 the case was worth just under 30 cents, and for the first two years only around 10 cents.
So if you have invested big back then, which barely anyone did, you would have had an insane return on investment with well above 1500%! 💰

This article is by no means a guide or a nudge for you to invest. We simply want to put out an informative article and shed some light on the more unknown containers of CS:GO.

If you want to invest, do so as you may. This article is by no means a guide on how to invest and if you should invest.

Conclusion

We hope that you liked our article. It is quite a change in pace and theme compared to our other and earlier work. But we hope that you like it and that we could teach you something new!

If this case did not exist, we can not say where we would be now in terms of skins and Counterstrike. We are glad that Valve took in more community-made designs for cases.
Through the years we have gotten a lot of vibrant and beloved skins
thanks to this change and the wonderful workshop creators.

Now it is time to check out some skins on GamerPay!
