The Future of GamerPay

Hi. I’m Morten, co-founder of GamerPay and a long-time CS player and skin enthusiast.

I’ve been deeply involved in the Counter-Strike scene for years - from playing and trading to building projects around the game I love. Skins, trading, and the CS community have always been a passion for me - not just a business.

GamerPay grew from that passion, with the goal of making trading safer and better for everyone.

I want to take a moment to personally explain some of the challenges we’ve faced over the past year, and how we are working to move forward - including what’s next on the roadmap, with some great changes to the business model.

We know that some users have experienced frustrations - longer response times, delayed refunds (due to a switch in payment partners), a slower site at times, and the overall transition to a trust-based trading model.

These are things we take seriously, and we’ve been working every day to improve the experience.

Much of it started when Steam removed the APIs (in April 2024) we and other sites relied on to automatically verify trades.

Unlike some platforms that quickly moved to using user access tokens, we decided it was safer to shift to a manual, trust-based model where users confirm trades themselves - and then slowly and safely evaluate from there.

At the same time, we introduced new payment methods to better support different user needs. Unfortunately, this led to delays for some users when receiving or refunding funds. I completely understand how frustrating this has been, and I truly regret the inconvenience it caused. We’ve worked hard to address these issues and continue improving.

We’ve also worked hard to keep GamerPay secure as we’ve grown.

We introduced purchase limits for new users and tightened our fraud prevention systems. That came at a cost - it required time, and in some cases, it also meant fewer sales for some users. But we believe it’s a necessary investment to protect the entire GamerPay community, now and into the future.

It’s been tough having to focus so much on reacting instead of building. But throughout it all, we’ve stayed committed to making GamerPay better where it matters most.

That lines up with how I think about business overall:
how you make money is more important than how much you make.

Despite everything, I’m proud of what we’ve achieved during 2024:

  • Launched a mobile app for buyers, and seller functionality is on the way.

  • Rebuilt key parts of our backend to make the platform faster and more stable.

  • Reduced our average support response time from over 48 hours to under 24 hours (in end April 2025).

  • Launched a new marketplace for Pokémon cards, which has received great feedback and taught us valuable lessons along the way.

  • Conducted a major user survey, with strong satisfaction scores, but also clear direction on what to improve.

Through hundreds of conversations with users, we now also have a clear direction for bringing GamerPay back to its best, and beyond. In the coming months, we’re refocusing fully on our core: Counter-Strike.
With that comes some exciting changes, including:

  • Automated crypto deposits, making top-ups as fast as you would expect.

  • A new, tier-based fee structure — designed entirely in favor of our users.

  • Relaunching our social engagement, so you can reach us far better - and hopefully also learn a thing or two along the way.

If you’ve read this far, thank you.

GamerPay was created to help people trade skins safely and transparently, and that mission remains just as strong today.

We know there’s a lot of work ahead. But after everything, I can’t help but smile, because I truly believe we’re building something that will serve the Counter-Strike community - and the entire ecosystem - better than ever in 2025 and beyond.

Thank you for trusting us.
